You’ve probably already heard, but Apple Cider Vinegar can be a healthy part of so many areas of your life! From cleaning to health, ACV is one of those “go-to” items you should always have on your shelf.
Let’s start with cleaning.
Vinegar is one of the most versatile all-purpose cleaners around. Mix 1 part water, 1 part ACV in a spray bottle and get to work! You can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to perk up the scent, too!
If you have hard water, use this diluted ACV solution to break up those mineral deposits on your shower glass.
If you’re having a fruit-fly infestation, try this trick: Put a shallow layer of ACV in a cup and add a drop of dish soap. The flies will become trapped when they go onto the solution.
Apple Cider Vinegar is a big help in the laundry as well. Add 1 cup of ACV into the bleach cup of your washing machine to get rid of urine smell. (Great for pet owners!)
How about adding Apple Cider Vinegar to your beauty routine?
Add one part ACV to 3-4 parts water and use as a facial toner. Apply this toner to your skin with a cotton pad, and then let it sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing. Your face will love it!
If you love a good soak in the tub, try this! Add about one cup of ACV to your bath water, along with Epson salts and a few drops of your favorite essential oils for a soothing and relaxing bath.
Dab a little 50/50 diluted Apple Cider Vinegar on insect bites to relieve itchiness. A couple of cups of ACV in a bath can sooth the irritation of a sunburn, too.
A lot of articles are touting using Apple Cider Vinegar as a teeth whitener, but remember that it is an acid, and acid will dissolve tooth enamel. I remember hearing years ago about people who loved to suck on lemons, and how the enamel on their teeth was eventually eaten away. So not a great idea.
Use 1/2 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar in 4 cups of water as a hair rinse after shampooing. Leave on your hair for a few minutes and then rinse with cool water. It will help keep your hair shiny and tangle-free!

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used in any of your salad recipes, or even just straight from the bottle with a little olive or grapeseed oil, a grind of pepper and some delicious pink Himalayan Sea salt! Try using SCV in your next smoothie! Add just a few teaspoons at first to see how much you like it, but it adds a great snap!
I love mixing some Apple Cider Vinegar with thin-sliced cucumbers and a little sweetener like honey or agave for a delicious salad. Add salt and pepper to taste. Quick, simple and clean!
Apple Cider Vinegar for your health!
It seems counter-intuitive, but ACV can help with digestion. Mix 2 teaspoons ACV, 1 tablespoon each of fresh ginger-infused water and fresh lemon juice, 8 ounces of sparking water and raw honey to taste. Pour over ice and enjoy! Ginger is also good for reducing an upset stomach, so this will help on a couple of fronts!
I haven’t tried this one, but it sounds interesting — if you are plagued with hiccups, try tossing down a straight teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar. The shock of the taste may just get ride of those pesky hiccups!
You can use apple cider vinegar as a healthy throat treatment. Dilute 1/4 cup ACV with 1/2 cup of warm water, add 1 tsp salt, stir until the salt is dissolved, and gargle.
If you suffer from leg cramps, Apple Cider Vinegar can help dissolve the acid crystals in the blood and provides minerals to help ease the cramping. Drink diluted ACV twice daily.
And on a related note, after a tough workout your muscles will likely have lactic acid buildup in the body. This causes fatigue and soreness, but the amino acids in ACV act as an antidote. Add a tablespoon to a glass of water after a workout.
There has been some research on using vinegar to help with diabetes. The conclusion is that consuming vinegar stimulates an antiglycemic reaction in those who have pre-diabetes. (Those who are showing signs of developing Type 2 Diabetes — also called insulin resistant.) The vinegar blocks the absorption of starch. The studies have been small so far, but this shows promise in slowing the progression from pre-diabetes to full-blown diabetes.
Apple Cider Vinegar is being tested in the area of heart disease as well. In animal studies Apple Cider Vinegar, due to its antioxidant properties, can reduce blood pressure, triglycerides, and total cholesterol. Again, more studies are needed, but it’s always great when something old-fashioned and down-to-earth is shown to have potential in so many areas!
Apple Cider Vinegar is showing great promise to be more than just another fad!
