Looking for Some "Super" Smoothie Ideas for the Big Game?

There's no reason to give yourself over to a hot-wings-fat-and-sugar binge just because there's a big game! I've concocted a couple of team-spirit smoothies to bring some nutrition to your celebration! These recipes make about 5 cups each, but are easily doubled.

Ingredients

2 cups carrot juice (Since I have a juicer, I made my own, but Lassen's carries fresh and delicious carrot juice in our refrigerated cases!)
2 cups orange juice
one apple, core removed
2 tsp fresh ginger (I just added a chunk of ginger that was about 1" x 1/2")
1 cup mango (I used frozen, but fresh is great too)
juice of 1 lemon

Directions

Mix everything in a blender until smooth.  Add more ginger if you'd like!

I love adding fresh apples to my smoothies--they add some body without an overpowering taste (which you sometimes get with bananas.)

Chill and stir before serving.  Yum! (Go Broncos!)

If you prefer something greener….  Here's my

2 cups Coconut Juice, Milk or Water (I used Juice) 1 cup orange juice 1 cup pineapple (I used frozen, but again, fresh is great!) 1 avocado, pitted and peeled 1 banana 5 large kale leaves (I usually remove the thickest part of the stem) 1 cup spinach juice of two limes 2 tsp ginger, if desired

Blend everything together until well mixed.

The avocado is a nice nutritional addition!

Chill and then stir before serving.  Delicious!  (Go Seahawks!)
