Lassen’s Core Values Stand the Test of Time

When the Lassen family sat down several months ago to formalize our Mission Statement, Motto, and Core Values, it really didn’t take too long to boil them down. These are things that Lassen’s has believed in from the very beginning.
When Oda Lassen opened her little Health Food Store in 1971, she knew what kind of a store she wanted to operate. She wanted to share her passion for healthy living with her community. She wanted to serve her friends and neighbors from the moment they stepped into her store and beyond. She even had the store phone routed to her home so that she would be available for her customers even when she wasn’t physically in the store. The second and third generation of Lassens and all of our team now carry her passion for healthy living and care for our communities.

Oda was committed to great quality and integrity in the products that she sold. Her standards, even way back when, showed her forward thinking as she always looked for “No preservatives or additives,” and “Nothing artificial.” Today’s complicated product menu of products and chemicals and GMOs and allergens are no match for our team of buyers who constantly strive to get down to the simple bottom line: We carry the cleanest and purest products.

Oda was always mindful of respecting our beautiful planet and its natural resources. She was an early supporter of the Organic movement and carried as much organic produce as was available, even back in the day when there wasn’t much! Lassen’s partners with wonderful local and ethical farmers and producers to make sure what you purchase in our stores is produced responsibly. In our commitment to support environmental sustainability, we offer only Organic produce in our stores. You don’t have to wonder if there are pesticides, waxes, GMOs, or preservatives in our produce section. If it’s on our produce racks, it’s organic.
